SMS Terms

The text-message program is called Mortelo Home Notes (the "Program"). It is operated by Mortelo, a brand of The Nelson M Group LLC. If you opt in, we send recurring automated text messages to the mobile number you provided with educational information about home improvement, confirmations and service messages, and (only if you separately agree) promotional announcements about new guides and resources.

Mortelo is not a contractor, remodeler, home-services marketplace, lender, insurer, or licensed professional. Choosing whether and how to do a project is your own decision.

You can join by completing the form on our Get Started or SMS Notifications page and checking one or both of the separate, unchecked consent boxes: (1) informational texts, and (2) promotional texts. You can also text START to join at 866-433-0737. We then send a welcome text that says “Text START to join” the program. Message and data rates may apply and message frequency may vary. You are never required to agree to receive text messages in order to use the Services or to buy anything. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

• Informational: confirmation of your request, educational information about home improvement, reminders about topics you asked about, and service notices.
• Promotional: announcements about new guides, checklists, and Mortelo news (only if you opted in to promotional texts).

We never ask you to reply with Social Security numbers, bank or card details, insurance claim numbers, or other sensitive details by text.

Message frequency varies depending on the topics you chose and the guides we publish. Most subscribers receive no more than about 8 messages per month. You may receive additional messages when you reply to us or request information.

The Program is free from Mortelo, but message and data rates may apply according to your mobile plan. Contact your carrier for details.

You can cancel at any time. Reply STOP to any message (you may also use STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT). We will send a one-time confirmation that you have been unsubscribed and send no further messages unless you opt in again. If you opted in to both types of texts, STOP ends both. Reply HELP to any message for help, or contact us at [email protected] or 888-804-9145.

If you stopped messages and want to rejoin, reply START to a previous Mortelo message or complete the opt-in form again.

The Program is available on most major U.S. wireless carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and many regional carriers. Carriers and their affiliates are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery is subject to effective transmission from your carrier and your device's capabilities and coverage. Mortelo does not guarantee that every message will be delivered or delivered on time. The Program is for U.S. numbers only.

We respect your privacy. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We may share information with service providers (such as our SMS platform and carriers) solely to deliver the messages and operate the Program. See our Privacy Policy.

You confirm that you are the subscriber or customary user of the mobile number you provide and are authorized to consent to messages on it. Please tell us if your number changes. Text messages are not encrypted, so please do not include sensitive personal or financial information in replies.

The disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute-resolution provisions (including arbitration and class-action waiver) in our Terms & Conditions apply to the Program. To the extent permitted by law, Mortelo, The Nelson M Group LLC, and our service providers are not liable for any delay, failure, or misdelivery of messages, or for any damages resulting from messages sent in accordance with your consent.

We may modify these SMS Terms. We will post updates with a new "Last updated" date, and where required we will request your renewed consent.
